Crazy Animals

Why have people become so desensitized to human tragedy but go crazy when animals are abused?

Edit: (Carl) I don't mean endangered animals. I mean animals in general. A good example is a video of a puppy being thrown off a cliff by a marine. Why don't people react the same when humans are tortured/killed

1. Because animals are on the endangered list but people are a dime a dozen?
2. Because animals are seen as innocent and helpless whereas obviously people aren't.
3. Because each day that passes people become more selfish. THats why you see so many people killing each other all over the world. Since it has become like an epidemic, its imposible to stop, even if we reduce it a little, so people have lost HOPE on other people and even on themselves many times. So i guess we're turning our attention to our fellow living creatures, there no much more to do at this point.
4. because people want to always find someone to save and since most people cannot figure out how to save themselves far less another person so they turn their compassion to animals, man's best friend, who cannot speak for themselves and say, Leave me the hell alone already and go fix your own problems.. lol
5. Most people if you know one you've seen them all. Dogs on the other hand you can spend a life time and still not know anything about them.
6. Humans have a conscience so we should know better. Most times a human tortures another human it's a reaction to something another has done to them. Even the most aggressive of animals won't attack a human unless they are hunting food or see us as a threat-so it's safe to say most animals don't attack or antagonize for no reason at all. Animals don't do things to make us attack them like humans do so I think that's the difference although either case is tragic. What's worse is that we have an unfair advantage against animals. The attacker knows he's going to do it, generally knows how to take advantage of the animal and we have all sorts of weapons / devices we can use to do this. Animals only have themselves and their God given defense abilities, but that's all.
