- Please, if they don't want to give a pet attention, don't get them one. It may be an idea to consider walking a neighbours dog instead?
- i don't know of any dog that does not require much attention. if you need one that doesn't, i'd say your 15 year old isn't responsible enough to have a dog.
- Hamster! Cute. Trainable. They adjust their sleep patterns to fit in with you feeding and wanting to play with them. They are pretty clean. Reasonably cheap well contained and live long enough to be loved but not too long for those impatient kids to get bored of!
- Dogs ,not too large, will help keep a 15 yr old fit by taking it out for walks.A cat,a guinea pig, gerbils, rabbit(s),birds, fish. Possibly some of these are more suitable for younger children and with caged or hutched pets there is the chore of cleaning them out regularly. Some older kids like more exotic things like spiders, lizards, frogs, but I'm not too sure if mum does. Personally I would have said a small dog, but it's up to you and your 15 yr. old to decide. Whatever you do decide on stress to the youngster that the care and well being of the pet is their responsibility.
- I agree - - the hamster.
- If they have not got the time for a pet then they should not have one.
- If your 15 year old doesn't want to pay attention to a pet why even consider it in the first place? It will end up neglected and as the parent you will become the caretaker of this pet. You should ask yourself the following question before ever considering owning a pet: Do you have any problem giving the following: - Attention - Love - Proper food/water/facility care - Cleaning out the pets habitat - Providing veterinary support Small animals do not socialize the same way that dogs and cats do, so they need to be handled more frequently then other animals. If you really want a pet that you "don't have to pay so much attention to" I would go with a betta fish. Even in that case: A properly housed betta requires a 2gallon tank and care. As for your example: Dogs need a ton of attention, care, and love! ---- Since you are* the 15 year old and don't really want to spend too much time with the animal, I still suggest a betta for now. Some people suggested turtles, but they actually need a good deal of care. Turtles can live from 20-40 years. That's a huge commitment! Along with the betta, I would suggest volunteering at your local shelter/rescue. This is a great way to learn about the different habits/problems animals encounter and how to care for them. It's also usually based on a pretty flexible schedule, so you can volunteer on days you feel like it. :)
- 15 months old you mean is better wait till turn 4 years old
- Dog's require a lot, talk with him or her about a Cockateil Bird. The only thing is they have to make sure the cage is cleaned out at least 1 time a week and that they have a water bottle for birds that is kept full. They also have to have a large gravity type feeder that they check as well. I am saying the bird bottle and gravity style feeder so that they only have to fill it back up 1 time or 2 times a week. That makes it easier on them with school and such. A cockatiel bird male can talk whistle and become very tame and fun to have. They can also live up to 25 years and do not cost a lot to care for after the 1st time investment of cage and supplies. Get the largest cage you can afford and try to get the bars that run horizontal and not vertical. The cockateils like to climb up the cage bars. The only other thing I can say is a Beared Dragon Lizard, get the supplies and talk with the local pet shop owner in your area. They will require more care and cost a little more than the bird. Good Luck, hope this helps you out some.
- A snake, don't need feeding that often, feed them live mice get the mice from a pet shop not wild ones so they have something to do like catch them then eat them.
- a hamster or a gerbil or a snake dogs require alot of attention
- i think is turtle..coz turtle can live for a very long time which can be livefor 15 yr...the turtle is very easy to take care of...u only need to feed it with vegatable will do and need not to pay too much attention on it
- A hamster or a gerbil
- don't get a pet if your not going to pay attention to it
- Oo for you I'd suggest a rabbit, or a rodent of some kind like a hamster or rat, small but manageable, in a couple of years you might be off to uni, you need to consider the lifespan of the animal you get, if it is something larger like a snake or a tank of fish will you be able to take it with you, or would you consider having an animal with a shorter natural lifespan, like a hamster or mice? Plus you have to realise there is a lot of work involved, you have to take responsibilty for cleaning it out every week and vets bills, believe me, just cos an animal is small, does not mean the vet bills are cheap! good luck!
- Hamsters are alright but they can be quite fussy. My experience with them as a teenager wasnt all that good. She wouldnt let me hold her and would bite me. Plus she would only come out at night and make alot of noise running round her wheel which would keep me awake when I should have been resting for exams... My best advice would be to go with a gerbil. They dont smell anywhere near as much as hamsters or mice. They are very sociable and love to be picked up and played with. They dont eat alot of food, they only need to be cleaned out once a week, and if you set their cage up with the right things like tunnels, burrows and toys they can keep themselves occupied for days.
- all pets need attension. but why would you want one if you didn't want to do much with it?
